Vitamin D is fat soluble, accumulating in fatty tissues. It acts as a hormone. Fish oil with vitamin D is a natural form of taking.
The role of calciferol cannot be overestimated:
- Required for absorption of calcium. Hypovitaminosis D in childhood leads to rickets and deformations of the skeleton. The adult person has pores in the bones, osteoporosis develops.

- Participates in the metabolism, contributing to the absorption of magnesium, calcium, and phosphorus.
- Prevents the development of type II diabetes, hypertension, atherosclerosis.
- Calciferol slows the reproduction of malignant cells, which increases the effectiveness of therapy and prevention of cancer.
- Activates genes associated with the fight against chronic and infectious diseases.
The main factors of deficit development:
- Vegetarianism - eggs, fish, milk, cheese are the main sources.
- Lack of UV rays - occurs in the inhabitants of the northern regions or when they are small in the street during the day.
- Dark skin color - melanin reduces the production of calciferol.
- Kidney disease, in which vitamin D does not go into an active form.
- Insufficient absorption, associated with the improper operation of the stomach and intestines.
It is impossible to determine the lack of calciferol at an early stage. The diagnosis is made at the height of the disease. The main symptoms are:
- aching joints;
- fast fatiguability;
- a headache;
- problems with teeth;
- nervousness, a sharp change of mood;
- deterioration of vision;
- weight loss.
Identify the deficit is possible only after a biochemical blood test.
